It may come as a surprise for some people, but our biomass wood pellets for heating also double up as a great quality cat litter. Our biomass wood pellets are produced under intense heat, and do not contain any additives, chemicals or binders that would cause harm to a pet. They are a 100% natural product, and are super, super absorbent.
To find out what makes wood pellets such a good cat litter, keep on reading….
Super Absorbent
Reiterating on the point we just made above, wood pellets can hold a lot of liquid. In fact, our wood pellets can absorb up to 3 times their weight in moisture. A cat litter that can hold a lot of moisture needs replacing less often. Many of our current customers who buy our wood pellets tell us that they feel like they are buying less litter.
Wood pellets are made from sawdust, when they are produced the sawdust is very tightly compressed. When they get wet, they start to expand, becoming bigger and less compressed in size. When clearing out the litter tray, you can dispose of the expanded pellets, and top up the rest of the tray with the compressed pellets.
Natural odour control
Our wood pellets are made from two types of softwood wood; pine and spruce. Most people will know the smell of pine from a Christmas tree. The naturally fragrant pine in these wood pellets helps to mask odour, without using any kind of chemicals.
Hygienic
When wood pellets are in the manufacturing process, they are formed under intense heat which kills off any bacteria or other nasties. Due to the tight compression of wood pellets, they also don’t give off a lot of dust.
Environmentally Friendly
On top of the above points that make wood pellets a quality cat litter, they are also environmentally friendly. Our wood pellets are FSC certified, the FSC is an organisation dedicated to promoting the responsible management of our forests around the world.
Our wood pellets are sourced responsibly, and from a sustainable source. They are also biodegradable and can be composted after use. Wood pellet litter is a great way reduce your cat’s carbon ‘paw’-print.
How to use:
Provide a suitable litter tray, big enough for your cat to use. Fill the base with wood pellet litter, approximately 2 – 4cm deep. Remember, when wood pellets get wet, they expand in size so do not over fill the tray.
Inspect the litter tray daily and remove any solids. On a regular basis, empty the litter tray completely and clean with a mild detergent. Ensure the tray is dry before refilling with wood pellet litter.
Wood pellets can be disposed of with household waste. The wood pellets are also biodegradable and can be composted.
